Gram Wallet Interface Appears in Telegram
The macOS beta introduces a dedicated Gram Wallet section inside Telegram's settings.
The interface includes a card displaying the user's GRAM balance and name, along with a QR-code button. A separate Gram Earnings balance also appears above the main wallet card.
The wallet menu includes several security and management options:
Passcode & Touch ID
Keys & Backup
How It Works
GRAM balance
QR-code functionality
The presence of Keys & Backup is particularly important because Gram Wallet is being positioned as a non-custodial wallet.
That means users are intended to retain control over their wallet credentials rather than relying entirely on a centralized custodian to control their assets.
However, the Add Funds and Send buttons were inactive in the macOS beta examined, indicating that the interface is still being prepared for broader functionality.
GRAM Transfers Designed to Work Inside Telegram
The beta also provides an early look at how Telegram intends to make GRAM transfers easier for mainstream users.
The setup interface describes sending GRAM inside chats in a way comparable to sending other content through Telegram.
According to the beta interface, the first five transfers each day are intended to be free, while subsequent transfers are described as costing very little.
A minimum transfer amount of 0.1 GRAM was also identified in the beta.
These details should still be treated as beta-stage product settings rather than guaranteed final terms. Telegram could modify fees, limits or functionality before the wallet reaches a wider stable release.
The larger objective appears straightforward: reduce the complexity normally associated with blockchain transactions by putting the wallet directly inside an application people already use.
Durov Announced Native Gram Wallet in July
The macOS appearance follows Pavel Durov's announcement in July that Telegram planned to bring a native, non-custodial Gram Wallet to its applications.
Durov said Telegram was preparing native Gram Wallet access for its billion-plus users, with a focus on instant transactions and a simplified crypto experience.
By August 31, Durov said Gram Wallet was ready and available to a select group of users, with a gradual rollout planned.
He also said validators had approved the smart contract supporting the wallet, allowing future upgrades without requiring users to go through wallet migrations.
TON Infrastructure Is Preparing for Gram Wallet
The wallet rollout is happening alongside TON network changes intended to support the new architecture and potentially greater transaction activity.
One important development is Config -123.
According to TON Strategy, Config -123 establishes shared, upgradeable wallet infrastructure at the TON network level.
The architecture is designed so future changes to the wallet's underlying onchain logic can be implemented through validator governance without requiring individual users to migrate their wallets.
A separate network update, Config 30, focuses on performance.
Config 30 extends validator leader windows, reducing the coordination overhead associated with frequent validator handoffs.
TON Strategy says the change is expected to increase network throughput by up to 30%.
Together, the upgrades address two different requirements: an upgradeable onchain wallet architecture and additional network capacity.
Why Native Telegram Integration Matters
Crypto wallets traditionally require users to install a separate application, create or import a wallet, manage recovery information and understand blockchain addresses before making transactions.
Embedding a non-custodial wallet directly inside Telegram could reduce several of those steps.
Users could potentially access GRAM from the same interface they already use for messaging and send assets through Telegram's existing social environment.
The potential scale is significant because Telegram has more than one billion users.
However, having access to a wallet does not automatically mean those users will become active blockchain users.
Adoption will depend on the wallet's usability, regional availability, fees, supported services and how deeply it becomes integrated into Telegram's broader ecosystem.
Gram Wallet Could Expand TON Activity
A widely available native wallet could have implications beyond simple GRAM transfers.
Telegram already provides an environment for bots, Mini Apps, digital collectibles, communities and other services.
A wallet integrated at the application level could make it easier for those products to incorporate payments and other onchain functionality.
That could potentially support additional activity across TON DeFi, digital assets, Mini Apps, payments and other Telegram-based services.
The network will also need to handle any increase in transaction demand generated by broader wallet adoption.
That makes TON's ongoing infrastructure upgrades particularly relevant as Telegram expands Gram Wallet availability.
What Comes Next?
The appearance of Gram Wallet in the macOS beta shows that the wallet's user interface has progressed into a publicly visible testing environment.
But the examined build still has important limitations.
Most notably, transactions were not yet functioning through the interface.
The next milestones will therefore include enabling funding and transfer functionality, expanding availability across Telegram clients and moving more users from limited access toward the complete wallet experience.
The beta interface's current fees, minimum transaction amount and other settings could also change before wider release.
Bottom Line
Gram Wallet has appeared inside Telegram's macOS beta build 12.10.283233, providing an early look at the messaging platform's native non-custodial wallet experience.
The interface includes GRAM balances, QR functionality, Gram Earnings and key-management options, while the beta indicates a minimum transfer of 0.1 GRAM and five free transfers per day.
Transactions were not yet active in the examined macOS build, so the appearance should be viewed as part of an ongoing rollout rather than a completed public launch.
Meanwhile, TON is preparing underlying infrastructure through upgrades including Config -123 and Config 30, with the latter expected to increase network throughput by up to 30%.
If Telegram successfully expands Gram Wallet across its billion-plus user base, the integration could significantly reduce the steps required to access GRAM and interact with TON directly from Telegram.
