TON Chooses Axelar to Connect 68 Blockchains in the Web3 Ecosystem

The Open Network Foundation has announced the selection of Axelar’s Mobius Development Stack (MDS) to establish connectivity between The Open Network (TON) and 68 blockchain networks.
This integration aims to enhance the scalability and usability of decentralized applications within the TON ecosystem, while also improving interoperability across Web3 platforms.
According to Anthony Tsivarev, director of ecosystem development at the TON Foundation, Axelar was chosen for its “open, developer-friendly stack,” which positions it as “an ideal choice” for TON.
Axelar’s Role in the Integration
The decision followed a thorough evaluation of cross-chain interoperability platforms, with Axelar’s MDS standing out due to its security, ease of integration, and flexibility.
A key component of this collaboration is Axelar’s Interchain Amplifier technology, enabling developers on the TON blockchain to connect seamlessly with other blockchain networks.
With Axelar’s MDS, the TON blockchain will be able to transfer assets and data effortlessly to mainstream networks such as Ethereum, Cosmos, and Polkadot.
Benefits of Cross-Chain Connectivity for TON Users
The integration promises significant advantages for developers and users alike. Developers will be able to create decentralized applications that operate across multiple blockchains without relying on traditional bridging solutions.
By establishing a robust interoperability layer, the integration seeks to mitigate liquidity fragmentation caused by assets being deployed in multiple bridged formats across various networks.
For TON users, this means increased access to Web3 services, smoother transactions, and an overall simplified user experience without the complexities of bridging.
A Growing Trend in Cross-Chain Interoperability
The partnership between Axelar and TON reflects a broader trend in the Web3 space, where cross-chain interoperability and blockchain connectivity are becoming essential.
On October 10, the Ronin Network, which previously suffered a $625 million hack in March 2022, also integrated with Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP). This integration ensures that messages between sending and receiving chains remain valid for Ronin’s cross-chain bridge.
While cross-chain functionality simplifies processes by reducing the need for complex bridging solutions, ensuring transaction security remains a top priority for networks pursuing these integrations.
